Open Space Jeffrey Park in Irvine, California Well Under Way

The color samples below were submitted for approval to determine the right effect for this project. A Sepia tone was the look we were shooting for.

The final panel is a historic timeline of the Irvine Company. The images to the right are a sampling of those to be used in the final product. The cattle photo creates a larger image for demonstrating the use of tiling. The concrete photo at the bottom is a 32" square work comprised of 4 - 16" pieces.

Updated! November 10, 2004

Our samples have been approved and we're in full swing as this project moves closer to completion. The Graphics to the right are just a few that will be used. The broken down panel (below) will make-up the final product. One complete panel measures 18" x 48".

See the transformation of this image below.

These photos, taken shortly after completion, show the panels set in place. Using a brown aggregate and buff colored cement, the image panels blend nicely with the natural stone encapments.

Notice how the seams of the panels correlate well with the precast seat elements.

Compliments to SWA architect Jim Maloney in providing a stunning application of this process; a great tribute to the rich history that Irvine celebrates.

Above is a full size photo of this project. Upon seeing the final results, the designers wished they had used this process more extensively throughout the entire development of this project. Open Space Jeffrey Park is the second project in the United States to incorporate photo-engraved concrete; a bookmark of our journey to the future with this process.
