Intaglio Composites delivers images to San Antonio, Texas
April 2004
As part of the Southtown Area
Street Improvement project, our company was contracted to recreate
imagery for inlay into sidewalks being constructed in the southtown
area. Anne Wallace, an independent artist was selected by the
city to consult on artistic and design enhancement features for
the various ongoing city improvement projects, and chose our new
process as part of that enhancement.
"I am excited to
see the finished work next month as this will be the first official
use of this process in Texas. I believe the impact of this process
will have far reaching implications for both the design community
as well as the historical community." Anne stated.
Anne is available to work
with your organization if you have a desire to implement this
concept. She can be reached at:

We proudly show below how
we took images provided from our client and reproduced concrete
reproductions using our Litho Crete™
process.
This inlay work will be sealed with a special topcoat sealant
designed to prevent wear and marring.
An Issue
of Image Resolution
The images in this project
consisted of two sizes:
18" x 24"
and
16" x 20"
The concrete pieces shown
came out exceptionally well considering the size of the image.
This should give you a good idea of the resolution capability
that we have, and it continues to improve, but keep in mind that
the image is created from the aggregate being exposed on
the suface layer by the concrete matrix it is interchanging with.
Larger images offer even more detail due to the size of the aggregate
being exposed. Photos can be digitally enhanced as part of this
process to increase the contrast of detail. In the projects images,
each one had it's own particular areas of difficulty and were
successfully translated in our process.
We invite you to the Gallery to see
more samples of interpretation capabilities. We are in the process
of adding colors to both our aggregate as well as exterior grade
acids and stains. We will have samples available soon for showing
and we invite you back often or give you the opportunity to fill
out the Contact Page to be included
in our email newsletter.
